that is the title of my food travel show wic will be premiering on AFC or maybe Travel and Living soon. why the sudden interest? cos i jus saw this show * Planet Makan on astro showing this british chef who came to malaysia to try out the cuisine.
first she starts out in kelantan, meeting up with a buch of orang asli ppl and trying out some tapioca with steamed ulam in bamboo.
next, she goes to terengganu checks out the fresh fish and seafood and.......(i forgot wat she ate there)
next she goes to malacca and meets up with chef florence tan for some taste of nyonya food where the chef cooks for her laksa
then she goes to kuala lumpur and tries out some malay food in some fancy restaurant and some fusion malay desert done by an australian chef
then she goes to cameron highlands to pluck some tea leaves and visits the boh plantation and some chinese lady who serves her scones with tea *rolling eyes
then she goes to penang and meets up with this indian journalist in some restaurant in little india for teh hali and roti jala (since when was roti jala and indian food? i thought it was a malay food). then he takes to a temple for their navarathiri prayers for free banana leaf food
then she goes over to the chinese side where she goes to the temple celebrating the nine emperors festival for free vegetarian food and complains abtthe roast duck. (how cheapo can u get? come to try the food and eat free food) she also tries to fry char kuay teow
then final stop is langkawi where it is kononnya ramadan and they dont eat food from sunrise to sunset and they break fast by buying some food in the bazar ramadhan. it ends with her learning how to cook beef rendang.
and not to forget AJINOMOTO is apparently spicy tapioca seasoning. fancy name huh?
i have noticed one thing about all these food travel shows- THEY DONT SHOW THE TRUE MALAYSIAN FOOD!!! they shud come to me. i will show them malaysia's gastronomical delights. LET'S START =) (oni the states that i have been)
PENANG-where do i begin its a food haven. first up is of course the cendol. ur not allowed to leave penang until u have eaten a minimum of 5 bowls. next head on over to chowrasta bazaar to buy some tau sar pheah and pickled fruits. its THE place to them. next is of course the asam laksa. it only tastes good in penang. not to forget fried oysters, fried tau kua and fruit rojak. ITS DA BOMB YO!!!
IPOH-another food haven even better than penang i personally find. firstly u must try their taugeh chicken which is steamed chicken with taugeh. the taugeh here is awesome as it is fat, juicy and sweet due to the well water. next is chee cheong fun (pig intestine noodles if loosely translated to english) u can have it sweet style or curry style or both =) there's a variety of fried stuff to add. next is all the chinese kuih like ang ku kueh, the sour kuih(sorry dunno wats its real name) the choco flavour chinese kueh, yam cake and so on, apam balik, its loaded with nuts and sugar and also the indian appam wic tastes like my grandma's (according to my mum)dry curry mee, its really good, the spiciness is concentrated just the way i like it, then of course ipoh white coffee taken iced served with freshly baked egg tarts and chicken siew pao. its heaven. next up is gopeng mee wic is similar to wan tan mee but the gravy is mushroom sauce with lots of mushroom with abt 10 mini wan tan and with a side dish of chicken feet, the nyonya kuih here is better than anywhere else and last but not least is fresh steaming puttu in all sorts of flavour-ginegr, sirap, brown sugar, suji and etc.
KL- IT HAS THE LOUSIEST FOOD EVER!!!
SEREMBAN-famed for its siew pao wic i wud say its not bad, there's a restaurant tat serves a killer tom yam soup better than in thailand, i hear the beef noodles are awesome as well then there's this special chicken rice that is served with fried garlic (it gives a nice crunch), popiah, why i mentioned this is cos the lady puts fried lard in it *smacking lips, cendol in seremban is AWESOME. its in the market next to the coconut section under the tree (this shop is manned by the parents, at the exit is by the daughter-not so nice)fried kuay teow at temiang corner is great as well and one more important thing there is this stall wic has been there since i was born its behind the store next to jabatan kesihatan building, this very good looking ...erm..brither sells kicap noodles with crispy onion balls, ppl sometimes just buy the balls oni. ITS FREAKING YUMMY!!!
MALACCA- it has the BEST pineapple tarts ever. its along jonker street, the aunty will bring out her oven and sell it on the road other than that im not very sure as the food has been commercialised and lost its taste. just check out jonker street. it has some good food.
TERENGGANU- welcome to keropok lekor heaven. its really (x infinity) delicious as u can taste real fish and not flour. their dodol is awesome as well. u must aso try their nasi dagang wic is actually brown rice served with acar, keropok lekor and ikan tongkol kari. its awesomely delicious.
well that the end of my travel food show, Walk Walk Find Food by RED.IS.HOT. now u tell me doesnt malaysia have the BEST food ever?
*names have been changed so the author wud not end up in court for unsolicited comments
now im off to scavenge around the kitchen for some chocolate cake XD
